YRC Yellow Freight / LTL Carrier

Postby Valve Man » Thu Dec 31, 2009 6:25 pm

Anyone have any news on YRC? I read blogs that that will file for bankruptcy protection but their stance publically is things are ok. Makes me a little nervous to give them freight especially to Canada!

well valve man,
I used to have the same concern so what I did was go with a 3pl for all my freight needs that way I dont have to deal directly with YRC. That way if they go under I dont have all my eggs in one basket. I just ask my 3pl to find someone else.

3PLs have the advantage of offering flexibility. If you deal with one carrier exclusively and that carrier goes under or starts offering terrible customer service, then you're scrambling to realign your freight operations. With a 3PL, you can just request to them that you not use a specific carrier.
