If I need to hotshot some LTL freight across the state would it be better to call a hot shot company, truck load broker or a 3PL? Sometimes we have time critical freight and it really needs to get there ASAP. Guess I need to throw in air freight too but my stuff is so heavy and don't think it could get on air planes. I know this is a broad question but any direction would really help. We do need some hot shot services help from time to time.

It depends on the size of your freight. If you need it same day, use a hot shot service. If you need it next day within the state, some carriers offer an early morning guaranteed service. 3PLs are good at helping you determine the most cost effective option.
